CJA 210 Arrest, Search, and Seizure

Covers issues and procedures regarding stops, frisks, searches, and seizures. The Fourth Amendment of the United States Constitution and Article 1, Section 9 of the Oregon State Constitution are discussed. Topics include stops, arrests, privacy issues, search warrants and warrantless searches, and seizures. Case law, current events, and statutory law from the Criminal Code of Oregon are reviewed. Prerequisites: CJA 105 and WR 121 Addendum: This course is designed to give a broad overview of federal constitutional, statutory and case law regarding Fourth Amendment rights for individuals suspected or accused of committing crimes. Students will be given an opportunity to judge the effectiveness.
