ENG 216 Introduction to Children's Literature
Introduces children’s literature, authors, and illustrators. Covers current and classic works, artistic
,
and literary elements, various genres, and basic book discussion techniques. Emphasis is placed on being able to choose books for different age and grade levels to promote and integrate literature into the curriculum.
Students will learn to analyze text using a culturally responsive lens exploring bias, stereotypes, and cultural messaging, and consider ways to frame and select content to meet the needs of a diverse classroom.
Prerequisite: Placement into WR 121
