COMM 111 Public Speaking

An introduction to speechmaking based on a traditional public speaking approach. Develops a theoretical understanding and practical application of oral and written communication skills with an emphasis on ethical responsibility. Students will complete a minimum of three formal speeches, including an informative speech, a persuasive speech , and a speech that focuses on the needs of a specific demographic that differs from the experience of the speaker . The speechmaking process will incorporate research, development, outlining, and speaker evaluation. 

Prerequisites: Placement into WR 121 or successful completion of RDWR 115. Audit available.

Fulfills General Education requirements for Oral Communication or Arts & Letters.
