CJA 101 Professions and Cultural Diversity in Criminal Justice
This course provides an overview of various careers and cultural diversity in the criminal justice and public safety professions, including: law enforcement, corrections, parole, probation, juvenile casework, adult casework, private security, loss prevention, and private investigation. Students will be introduced and become familiar with communication styles, customs, language, and behavior patterns of various cultures, ethnic groups, and non-traditional populations as employed and encountered by criminal justice professionals.
Recommended: RDWR 115 or placement above this level.
Addendum: Students participating in this course will study the history and impact of prejudice, discrimination and racism within the criminal justice system. Students will learn the importance of relating to all segments of the communities they serve.
