RDWR 115 College Reading and Writing

Focuses on expanding and improving reading rate, vocabulary, and comprehension of complex college level texts. Emphasizes critical thinking skills, information literacy, and introduces college level skills in reading critically, exploring ideas, and writing. Students will compose essays in support of a thesis, working through multiple drafts with time to separate the acts of drafting and revising.  Students will write a minimum of 2000 words of revised, final draft copy, including at least one essay that incorporates source materials and employs MLA citation and documentation.

 

REQUIRED:

 

Students will attend a lab for a minimum of three hours per week in the Writing Studio/Learning Lounge to be scheduled at the beginning of the term to work on assigned supplemental material as directed by their instructor. The lab hours are a requirement for passing this course and will account for at least 25% of the course grade.
