Financial Aid Eligibility Appeals

Reinstatement of Financial Aid Eligibility

Students who do not meet SAP while on probation will no longer be eligible for financial aid. Financial aid eligibility may be reinstated when the student has achieved Financial Aid Good Standing by raising their cumulative GPA to a 2.0, and achieves a cumulative completion of two-thirds (66.67%) of all credit hours attempted.

Students who do not successfully complete credits may be required to return financial aid as stated in Federal requirements. Learn More about Repayment of Financial Aid Funds.

Appealing Maximum Time Frame Extension

Students need to complete a program of study within 150% of the credits required. Students have the right to request an extension of their financial aid eligibility once per year.

Students must complete a Time Frame Extension Appeal form and include an academic plan. Completion of the appeal form does not guarantee reinstatement of financial aid.

While on a Time Frame Extension Appeal students must:

  • Follow the academic plan taking only courses required for the degree or certificate
  • Maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.0
  • Successfully complete all courses listed on their academic plan.

Students must meet the requirements of the approved time frame appeal or they will no longer be financial aid eligible. If a time frame extension appeal is denied a student may submit a written request for review of the appeal to the Associate Vice President of Student Services. If the Vice President of Student Services upholds the denial decision, the student may not submit any additional requests for funding.
